Vocabloom ("we", "our", or "the app") is a language-learning app that transforms your photos into illustrated vocabulary lessons. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.

Data We Collect

We collect the following data to provide and improve the app:

• Email address — used for account creation and authentication via magic link or password sign-in.
• Photos — photos you take or select are uploaded to generate illustrated vocabulary. Original photos are deleted from our servers after processing.
• Language preferences — your chosen source and target languages, used to personalize vocabulary content.
• Learning data — saved vocabulary words, flashcard progress, and spaced repetition review history.
• Purchase history — subscription status and purchase records, managed through RevenueCat.
• Push notification token — your device's push token, used to send you notifications about completed illustrations.

How We Use Your Data

All data we collect is used solely for app functionality. We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, or profiling. Specifically:

• Your email is used only for authentication.
• Your photos are processed to generate vocabulary illustrations and are deleted from our servers after processing.
• Learning data is used to power spaced repetition and track your progress.
• Purchase data is used to manage your subscription and credit balance.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Supabase — hosts our database, user authentication, and file storage.
• OpenAI — processes your photos server-side to generate illustrations and vocabulary. Photos are sent to OpenAI's API and are subject to OpenAI's API data usage policies.
• RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and purchase history.
• Expo Push Notifications — delivers push notifications to your device.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, calendar, health data, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or any analytics or crash reporting data. We do not use any tracking or advertising SDKs.

Data Retention

Your account data, vocabulary, and learning progress are stored as long as your account is active. Original photos are deleted from our servers immediately after illustration processing. You can delete your account at any time from within the app, which permanently removes all your data.

Children's Privacy

Vocabloom is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
